Established Methodologies: For all of our monitoring and research services, we use internationally recognized methodologies that have withstood the test of criticism and have well-understood strengths, weaknesses, and margins of error. We are looking to contribute to the advancement of media research and media monitoring in Afghanistan, and this means moving away from outdated survey and monitoring methods and implementing systems that meet or even exceed international standards.

National Coverage

MediaMark has offices throughout Afghanistan’s provinces, giving us the unique ability to monitor the media and product quality control at a national level.

In March 2011, a group of Afghan media experts joined forces to launch MediaMark. The founding team members have over 20 years combined experience in strategic broadcasting, media business development, and media analysis for local and international clients in the Afghan media sector.

Whether clients need campaign coverage monitoring or market-competition analysis, MediaMark delivers tailored solutions to fit each client’s specific needs.
MediaMark started out capturing data from 16 television stations and six radio channels throughout Afghanistan. Since February 2012, the media monitoring system has been expanded to the monitoring of 40 television stations and 16 radio channels, as well as reporting from eight provinces via local monitoring agents. In May 2012, MediaMark activated an online portal service enabling clients to log in to access their bespoke data sets from anywhere around the world.
Media Mark is on track to becoming one of Afghanistan’s leading media data companies by constantly expanding its provincial reach and by utilizing the world’s most advanced monitoring technology. MediaMark currently offers media monitoring services in 12 major cities and maintains technical facilities in 15 provinces. Overall, MediaMark has the capacity to monitor 143 television and radio outlets throughout Afghanistan.

MediaMark is managed by a seasoned team of executives with backgrounds in creative, media, marketing and sales, and ICT. The senior management staff has extensive experience in the private sector in both Europe and Afghanistan, with in-depth knowledge of international best practices in their respective areas of expertise.
The company management is supported by a skilled group of ICT professionals in the Technical Department who are proficient in the latest ICT hardware and software. Furthermore, they are always on the lookout for the most cutting edge technological resources that can add value to Afghan businesses.
On a day-to-day level, the projects under MediaMark management are overseen by the Program Department, which aggregates all of the raw data from our media monitoring activities, engages in critical analysis, and drafts the requested reports for clients.

PARWANA TOTAKHIL
President

MediaMark is led by Parwana Totakhil, one of Afghanistan’s leading businesswomen. Parwana has worked in the field of sales and marketing since 2004 at a variety of public and private sector organizations, with particular expertise in the aviation and telecommunications industries. Parwana received her undergraduate education from Kabul University, majoring in English Literature.

NASIR TOTAKHIL
Chief Executive Officer

Nasir is the resident expert on business management and utilizing the latest hardware and software available on the market, to include broadcast technology, media monitoring systems, and Enterprise Solutions. Nasir has Master of Information Technology (MIT) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from Delhi University in India and the American University of Afghanistan, respectively. He also received broadcast technology training from the BBC in the United Kingdom.

SALEEM TOTAKHIL
Chief Marketing Officer

Saleem oversees all business development activities and continually assesses what services are most needed to serve the Afghan market. Saleem has experience managing the businesses development activities of several companies in Northern Europe, and is committed to pushing for increased adoption of European business best practices in the Afghan private sector. He has a degree in Software Systems Network Engineering from West Thames College and Kingston University in London.

JAWID NABIZADA
Chief Technology Officer

Jawid takes the lead in implementing technology-based solutions internally within MediaMark and externally for clients. Jawid has been involved with several software development agencies in Europe, the United States, and Canada. Jawid studied Software Development and Mechanical Engineering.

BARYALAY NOORI
Creative Director

Baryalay Noori serves as the Creative Director at MediaMark. Baryalay has worked with AINA Media as Media Analyst also as a Manager at Excel Media, his media knowledge and creative skills in his very young age made him serve best of his services for clients. Baryalay is currently undertaking his graduate studies at Kabul University, with the goal of obtaining a Master of Information Sciences (MIS) degree.

SHAKEB AZADZOI
Head of Media Analysis

Shakeb is deeply involved in monitoring and analyzing trends in the Afghan media sector. He has the ability to aggregate data and provide analysis in a fashion that adds value to businesses and nonprofits alike. Shakeb graduated from Kabul University with a major in Agriculture Business, and has implemented several media analysis projects for prominent private and development sector organizations. Shakeb has worked on media marketing strategies with CyberNet Technologies, Aria Afghan Agribusiness, and Khaliq Construction.
